2nd Open Central Asia International Arts Festival

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

Following a successful festival last year, the 2nd Open Central Asia International Arts Festival 2017 will be held in the British capital, London, from 5th – 15th October 2017. Theatre troupes, folk groups, visual artists, films, musicians and producers from Eurasia and around the world are invited to participate in the festival and celebrate Central Asian culture with us!
Theatrical performances

We are looking for theatrical performances of different genres and languages, including theatrical dancing, artistic plays and physical theatre productions.
Plays should not exceed a running time of 120 minutes (75 minutes for One man/woman – Mono-plays). If the play is not performed in English, you will need to submit an English translation of the script to the festival organizing Committee no later than two months before the opening of the festival. This will allow us to prepare subtitles.
For marketing purpose, we kindly ask that you provide a synopsis (200 to 250 words), a high-quality photo (300dpi), a list of Cast and Creatives and a 15-minute video clip from your show.

Folk group

The category ‘Folk group’ includes both professional and amateur groups. Please submit information about the region of origin of the folklore, the name of the presentation and its author, a brief biography of the group (max 250 words) and a high-quality photo (300 dpi print quality). If possible, please also include brief information about the director and choreographer. The duration of the folk performances should not exceed 20 minutes.

Visual artists

We accept all kinds of visual art, including paintings, photography, installations, sculptures, etc

Each artist who participates in the festival may present up to 10 pieces of their work. Places of the exhibition are to be designated by the organizing Committee of the festival. The artists can choose the subject of their works, however, preference will be given to theatrical works. Please submit a short biography (no more than 500 words) and a high-quality headshot (300 dpi) alongside the completed application form.

Film
All submitted films will be viewed by the festival committee, and successful applicants will be notified after the deadline on 31st May 2017. If your film has been selected to participate, you will be asked to prepare English subtitles and send them for approval before 30th June 2017 alongside a synopsis of the film (up to 300 words). Each director/film company may only present one film (length: up to 120 minutes – Minimum 20-30min). Up to 4 people of your company will be invited to come to London and present the film at the festival.

Participation fees

If you have been selected, you will be asked to pay a participation fee:

Solo artists: $75

Groups of 1 – 3 artists: $150

Groups of 4 – 8 artists: $300

You will ne notified within 10 working days after the deadline, whether your work has been chosen to be shown at the festival.
